- 1 LS lightweight thermal top
- 2 LS heavyweight thermal tops
- 1 pair thermal longjohns
- 1 thermal sports bra (essential for chilly descents!) Beanie and balaclava
- 1 pair thermal gloves, 1 pair windproof gloves

- For Iran - 2 hejab (headscarves) 1 for on the bike, 1 for off and a long coat for off the bike. In Iran and Pakistan I cycle in a large mens cotton shirt and baggy cotton trousers over cycling shorts

Toiletries
- Sunscreen, lip balm and lots of moisturiser (essential for dry desert areas)
- Quick dry towel
- 4 season sleeping bag, silk liner, 3/4 length ultralight thermarest and seat converter
- Petzl headtorch (Tikka)
- Camera and small tripod
- Minidisc player LP and discs (great in Europe but the roads further east far to dangerous to use on the bike, good for off the bike though)
- Sunglasses
- Leatherman tool (good for bike adjustments as well as being a handy knife)
- Binoculars
- Diary, notebook, pens, novels, guidebooks, phrasebooks
- Polar Heart rate monitor (for fun really and a useful distraction for boring bits of road!)
- Cycle computer
- Watch - Suunto Observer (has an altimeter - handy on the bike, and a compass -
- handy for finding the right way through towns, bazaars etc.)
